The cork fabric is composed of a thin layer of cork obtained without chemical treatment against glued on a fabric support (polyester, blend of cotton and recycled polyester, ...)
The thicknesses of the cork fabric range from 0.4 to 1.1 mm.
Machine stitching :
Normally a standard crowbar goes very well, in case of difficulty, a Teflon foot can be used.
For a better rendering and ease of sliding the machine point will be extended.
For cork fabrics <0.5 mm a standard 80 or 90 needle is sufficient
For cork fabrics >= 0.5mm you need a standard needle of 90 or if necessary a needle type jeans of 90 or 110.
Use :
The cork fabric is pleasant and easy to work with. It does not present any particular difficulties.
The very fine cork fabric can above all be used to make biases, pipings, decorations, ornaments for jewelry, bracelets, small soft items like purses, small cases, bow ties, cat toys, ...
Thick cork fabrics can mainly be used to make bags, pouches, wallets, spectacle cases, baskets, shoes, hats, straps, belts, cushions, upholstery, etc. even jackets, vests, ...
It is possible to draw or paint on the cork, to embroider it
Maintenance : cleans with a soft sponge, water and soap. Let dry in the open air (not in the sun).
No ironing, no detergents, no washing machine, no dryer
Storage : let breathe, do not enclose in a plastic bag, do not crush.
